The much-loved period drama, inspired by James Herriot’s timeless veterinary stories, finished on our screens with a Christmas Eve episode, transporting audiences back to 1945 as the Second World War came to an end.
Set once again in the fictional village of Darrowby, filmed in the real-life market town of Grassington, the latest series followed James, Helen, Siegfried and Tristan as they navigated a period of profound change, hope and healing.
The show’s popularity continues to grow overseas.
The stars have recently been promoting the series in America ahead of its broadcast on PBS, taking part in a series of promotional videos.
In one, the cast reveal the lines, scenes and exclamations fans can’t stop quoting back to them, while another sees them discuss the show’s time jump and how their characters are adapting to a post-war world.
To mark the end of Series 6 at the end of 2025, the official All Creatures Great and Small team posted a heartfelt message on social media, thanking fans for their continued support.
“From all of us at All Creatures Great and Small, thank you for your incredible support throughout Series 6,” the message read.
“Your kind words mean the world to us, and we’re so grateful to every viewer, cast member, and crew member who helped bring the wonderful world of Darrowby to life.”
The post quickly struck a chord with fans, who flooded the comments with praise for the show’s gentle storytelling, breathtaking scenery and moving performances.
One viewer wrote: “All done and you are the best TV drama by far. I could watch it over and over again! Good luck!”
Filmed across the Yorkshire Dales, including locations such as Grassington, Broughton Hall and Oakworth Station, the series has become a love letter to rural England.
Its success has also turned Grassington into a tourist hotspot, with visitors keen to explore familiar filming locations, including The Drovers Arms pub, filmed at The Devonshire Inn, and the Stripey Badger bookshop, transformed on screen into Endelby’s Grocers.
The series has also been shortlisted for Best Drama Series at the TV Choice Awards, with the team once again thanking fans for helping secure the nomination.
A series seven and eight are planned for All Creatures Great and Small, with details of filming yet to be released.
