WHAT do visitors to York think of the appallingly round-about route they have to take to reach the National Railway Museum (NRM) from the station?
Not much, I suspect.
In the extreme heat we’re suffering, they have to walk for around 15 minutes to reach the temporary entrance.
No shade nor shelter whatsoever. No buses near the entrance neither.
The museum could have created a temporary entrance much closer to the station.
But it didn’t. What were the management thinking of? Do they all arrive – as I suspect – by car?
It’s a poor advert for the museum and York generally.
Museum management should be ashamed.

What’s wrong with this location? Not much
OBJECTIONS to a mortuary at York Business Park appear to be based on competition from a traditional funeral director and subjective emotional reactions.
Councillor Ann Hook claims it will put off other businesses from operating there.
I disagree. As a business owner I would have no problem being next door to an operation that would wish to keep a low profile and one that that is most likely to be dead quiet. (Pun intended)
Cadavers must be stored somewhere before proceeding to whatever funeral arrangements are to take place.
This tucked away commercial unit seems as good a location as any.
In planning terms it is difficult to see any real harm demonstrable harm.

Changes needed
HOW much longer does English cricket have to put up with the ridiculous decisions made by ECB Director of Cricket, Robert Key?
His choice of yet another foreign coach for our 5 Day Test Team is worse than the last, Fleming possesses no experience outside the IPL which is a 20/20 competition.
Likewise, his reappointment of Root as captain is a definite step backwards.
Now is the time to dismiss Key and appoint an English head coach and captain from within our own first class counties.
